The design and construction of this high–tech facility was achieved with the inputs of ARUP Acoustics and Theatre Consultants. The core space within the building is a research auditorium in which the acoustic volume and characteristics can be altered, and multiple sound sources can be deployed in every plane, including the floor. The building provides an environment that enables the development of audio software and hardware products with commercial potential and a research laboratory in experimental music, sound creation and delivery.  Aesthetically, the new building has a sculptural modernist style, forming a stepped composition to sit easily within its context.

HBD are pleased to be currently working on adaptations to the building making it more accessible to the public for performances and installation exhibitions.
