This project is a great example of what happens when an architect gets a brief for a toilet, shower and kiosk at a council maintained beach. The role of the architect is to envisage what could be, whilst delivering on the fundamentals of the brief. The sculptural timber clad structure sits on corten steel sheet metal pilings in an environmentally sensitive dune–land setting of Benone Blue Flag Beach. Not only does it provide welcome facilities to visiting families and surfers, but acts as a new landmark emerging from and complementary to the natural environment.
