This once listed art deco cinema designed by John McBride Neill, who was an eminent cinema architect, had long since lost its architectural appeal having been converted into a furniture showroom in the 1970s. Purchased by Windsor Baptist Church in 2015, the church’s vision was to open up the building once again. The concept was to open up the façade to invigorate the street frontage, allowing the community to access and view what happens within church. The external approach was to refurbish the art deco form in a more contemporary manner with a new stone base and the reintroduction of the canopy and signage, which adorns many art deco cinema facades.
